Junglist dads

Went to see Zinc, Adam F and London Elekricity last night at Concorde 2. Superb mash up. Me n Rich were double the average age, but we managed to keep our dancing going til a respectable hour. Only thing was, the heady mixture of teenage male hormones and class As meant that it was all a bit po-faced and serious. Could have done with a bit of fun and humour...but it was all good, 10 years on from the last time I saw Adam F.

Peter Kennedy

Me old mate Peter's done some good tunes which you can download at Triplejunearthed here.

Try 'two thousand and sax' for size - good to get you in the mood for a night out.

where are they now?

Seems to me there are 2 approaches to a first post. Start as you mean to go on - or try too hard to launch with a big splash controversy/bandwagon issue/cynical linkage potential. I choose the first.

When making that choice I was wondering if this will be a one hit wonder of a blog, or will I have the energy to keep it going? It's my second attempt already...and I barely have the time to scratch my arse these days, but...

So to start with music as I mean to go on. I was thinking about great musicians that I miss who made records whose greatness seemed to scare them off for life. Here's my 'where are they now?' file:

  • Neutral Milk Hotel. I don't care if Jeff Mangum doesn't reach the heights of 'In the aeroplane...', I just want to hear more. Please.
  • Souls of Mischief. 2000 seems a long time ago... put down them spliffs boys and get on it! By the way, check out the Heiroglyphics site, it's really something.
  • Freddie de Majunga. I want more soukouss magic, I want it now.
  • Kevin Shields (OK I know he did some stuff for Lost in Translation soundtrack but it wasn't that great was it)
  • I was going to put The Meters - the world needs their fresh funk more than every in the recent absence of the Godfather. But then I saw that they have reformed...
  • Another Sunny Day. Come back, just don't bring your duffel coats with you.
  • Minutemen. Haven't seen the film yet, but I'd like some new music to go with it if that isn't too much to ask.

Others keep on keeping on, living off past greatness, going through the motions:

  • Gilberto Gil. My review of a recent gig in the Independent.
  • A-ha. Yes, Aha. As you can tell, I ain't scared of being uncool.

What about artists I like at the moment that we'll care enough about in the future to spend time wondering where they are? YKWIM? Some ideas:
